Institut KH. Ahmad Sanusi (INKHAS) Sukabumi organized the International Conference of Social and Islamic Studies (ICONSIST) 2024 on December 8, 2024, at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) campus in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. This event served as a significant platform for strengthening global networks and collaborations in the fields of social sciences, education, and Islamic studies.

One of the main agendas of the conference was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between INKHAS and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UTM. The MoU was signed by the Rector of INKHAS, Dr. H. A. Suganda, M.Ag, and Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd. Fauzi Abu Hussen (Academy of Islamic Civilization, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UTM Malaysia).

This collaboration aims to:

  1. Strengthen Islamic education through joint research in the areas of Islamic education, Islamic law, and Sharia economics.
  2. Enhance student and faculty exchange programs between the two institutions.
  3. Develop academic capacity through international seminars, workshops, and training programs.
  4. Expand access to educational resources and academic publications.

The conference also featured prominent speakers, including:

  • Dr. H. A. Suganda, M.Ag (Rector of INKHAS, Indonesia)
  • Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd. Fauzi Abu Hussen (Academy of Islamic Civilization, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, UTM Malaysia)
  • Prof. H. Moh. Najib, M.Ag (UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung/INKHAS, Indonesia)
  • Prof. Madya Dr. Harapandi, MA (University of Religious Teachers Brunei Darussalam, Brunei)
  • Prof. Dr. H. Wawan Hernawan, M.Ag (UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung, Indonesia)

The event was attended by 100 participants onsite and 250 participants online. A total of 65 papers from three countries and 10 universities were presented, reflecting the international scope and significant academic contributions of the conference.

The event was also witnessed by several officials from both institutions, including UTM leadership and the INKHAS delegation. As a follow-up, both parties agreed to form a working team to design more focused and sustainable collaborative programs.

This international conference is expected to open new opportunities for the development of innovative, relevant, and globally competitive Islamic education.
